简介:

I am a native English speaker from Canada. I have a CELTA, a Bachelor’s degree specializing in Therapeutic Recreation (from Canada) and a Master’s degree in Communication and Leadership Studies (from the USA).

As an international NGO program specialist, I transitioned my skills in training, management, and developing and delivering innovative programs, to ESL teaching, student engagement and department administration.

Currently based in Shenzhen, I teach literature, guided reading, writing, and projects, to students who are aiming to study abroad.

Prior to that, I was based in the Philippines, where I was a Corporate Trainer with the British Council. I tailored and led training sessions in business communication, mindfulness, and creativity in the workplace. I was also selected to be an educator for the British Council’s first paid online MOOC course.

I was also the only fulltime ESL Teacher at an international school. I wrote over 150 lesson plans, and taught students in every grade, from kindergarten to high school, aged 4 - 17. I built relationships with each of my students and personalized my teaching to their needs and learning goals. Nine of my students graduated out of the ESL program at the end of the year.

In addition to teaching, I managed the ESL program and facilitated all WIDA testing for the current and potential students, to determine student eligibility, placement, and progress in the ESL program.

Highlights of the value that I added to my school community include:

  • I initiated the planning and design of the first service-learning program for my school. The cross-curriculum project taught middle school and high school students about the role of growing, preparing and conserving food in society, in a global context, as well as the importance of gratitude.
  • I co-coordinated the ESL after school program. I scheduled the teachers and the students and planned and facilitated weekly sessions for primary, middle school and high school students.
  • I supported my teaching colleagues with their ESL questions and provided them with the support they needed for their students. I also provided substitute coverage and in-classroom support as needed.

I am seeking a part-time or on-call opportunity in teaching, training, editing, and proofreading, and curriculum development.
